When you publish a note, Canto creates a sanitized, read-only copy of that note and hosts it at an unlisted URL on shared.lonelyduck.io. The published page is a snapshot: it does not live-update as you keep editing the note in your vault. You choose when to push an updated snapshot, and you can unpublish at any time.

Published links are unlisted and marked noindex by default — we do not list them in a directory and we ask search engines not to index them. However, anyone who has the link can read the page, and links can be forwarded, pasted, or scraped by others. Treat a published link as public.

Published notes are user-generated content. The account owner is responsible for the content they publish, including any text, images, or links it contains, and for the consequences of making it available at a public URL.

You must hold the rights to everything you publish — either because you created it, you have a license for it, or it is otherwise lawful for you to distribute. Do not publish material you do not have the right to share.

Publishing does not transfer ownership of your content to us. You retain all rights in your notes. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the feature: to host, store, reproduce, and display the published snapshot at its URL until you unpublish it or it is taken down.

You may not use Canto Publishing to publish:

• Illegal content of any kind.
• Child sexual abuse material. We remove such material immediately, report it, and escalate it to the relevant authorities.
• Harassment, threats, or hateful content targeting individuals or groups.
• Phishing, malware, scams, or content designed to deceive or defraud.
• Content that infringes copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights.
• Doxxing or publishing the private personal information of others without their consent.
• Spam or bulk-generated junk content.

Content that violates these rules may be removed without notice, and violations can lead to termination of your LonelyDuck account.

Every published page carries a "Report this page" affordance. Anyone can file a report — no account is required.

We may remove ("take down") any published note that violates these terms, at our sole discretion. A taken-down note cannot be republished.

DMCA and other copyright complaints should be sent to support@lonelyduck.io. Include the URL of the published page and a description of the work you believe is infringed.

When you publish a note, we store the following on our servers:

• The note title.
• The sanitized HTML snapshot of the note.
• Images embedded in the note.
• The publishing account's email address.
• The publishing device identifier.
• View counts for the published page.
• For abuse reports: a one-way hash of the reporter's IP address.

When you unpublish a note — or when a note is taken down — the snapshot HTML and hosted images are permanently deleted from our servers.

Your private vault is never uploaded. Publishing only ever transmits the single note you explicitly choose to publish.

Canto Publishing is a free feature, subject to per-account quotas (such as the number of published notes) and per-note size caps (covering the snapshot and its embedded images). We may change these limits at any time.

The feature is offered as-is during beta and may be interrupted, suspended, or modified. While publishing is disabled, existing published links may return an error.

You can unpublish a note at any time from Canto or from your account dashboard. Unpublishing deletes the hosted snapshot and its assets as described above.

Deleting your LonelyDuck account deletes all of your published notes and their assets.
